Triangle Fragrance has been one of the top trending American fragrance companies since the start of the year, and the company’s CEO is thanking Miami!
Magda Khalifa, a first-generation American, retired US Army special operations combat veteran, bestselling author, and now CEO of Triangle Fragrance, lives right here in Florida where she has used the region to inspire her scents and expand her empire.
Originally from New York, you have now taken over Florida! Why make the move to FL and the Miami area?
I launched Triangle Fragrance in the New York City area early in 2020, right before everything shut down. Literally trapped in my small apartment on the Hudson River, I realized I needed to pivot and relocate to grow the business. It was important to find a vibrant area that was thriving.
I’ve always loved Florida but selected the Miami area because of its international flavor, festive culture, and business vibe. My mother lived in Miami Beach when she immigrated to the US from Colombia in 1968, before moving to New York City. I suppose I sense a natural kinship to Miami.
What about Miami inspires your fragrances?
My acclaimed Victory – the ultra-masculine scent – features a smoky-woody accord with notes of Cuban tobacco and Russian leather, sure to please the most discerning cigar aficionado in Miami. All the fragrances are inspired by Freedom Triangle, a modern luxury experience that helps people find clarity and inner peace.
Miami’s ambiance and beautiful year-round climate support the different points of Freedom Triangle: Time Freedom, Health Freedom, and Mind Freedom. It is no wonder that so many people move to Florida for that beautiful Freedom!
What about Florida do you personally love and where are some of your favorite spots to go out to?
Florida’s natural beauty is exquisite. Gently swaying palm trees, basking in the sun really makes you feel like you are in paradise. I love exploring the area, and spending time on the water whenever possible – whether paddleboarding or on a boat. Some of my favorite spots are the shops at Bal Harbour, the various beaches and parks, and anywhere I can catch a sunrise or enjoy palm trees.
We have a huge Veteran community here. What is your advice to those who served that want to start their own companies?
The most important advice I suggest to fellow Veterans is to find a qualified business mentor – one who has achieved the things they wish to achieve. I also recommend finding accountability partners – either a coach or a peer group of other business owners. Having these people in place will help you on your entrepreneurial journey.
What do you feel makes your fragrances stand out from others on the market?
Triangle Fragrance is the first modern luxury fragrance line, featuring high-quality scents that are not only very pleasurable but provide an experience as well. Each scent comes with a Collector’s Card, inspired by Freedom Triangle. These Cards are a great source of self-help for people throughout their day. Additionally, a portion of proceeds supports charity to help people find inner peace.
What’s next for you in 2021?
Looking forward to new partnerships with brick and mortar shops, as well as big-box retail distribution. Also excited about pop-up opportunities so I can personally connect with luxury fragrance lovers, and help others by sharing more about the power of Freedom Triangle!
